Move stock between storage units inside one plant, from planning the moves to confirming them.

A stock transfer moves stock between storage units inside one plant, for example from the parts room to the cage by the loading area. The quantity at the plant does not change; only where it sits does. To move stock between two plants, use a warehouse transfer.

How to plan a transfer when stock needs to move inside a plant

  1. Open Inventory, then Stock Transfers, and choose Add Stock Transfer. The Stock Transfer Wizard opens for the plant's location.
  2. Search for items or storage units. Choose a row on the left to see which storage units hold that item and how much each has on hand.
  3. Set Transfer From and Transfer To for each move and choose Add. Repeat for every item.
  4. Choose Review, then Create Transfer. The transfer is Draft.
  5. On the transfer, use Add Line or Edit Line to change an item, its Quantity, its From Storage Unit or its To Storage Unit while it is still a draft.

How to carry out a transfer when someone is moving the stock

  1. Choose Release. The transfer becomes Released and its lines lock. Storage rules are checked at this step, so a move that breaks a rule is stopped before anyone picks it up.
  2. Print the Pick List for the person doing the moves.
  3. As each line is moved, confirm its quantity or scan it. Each confirmed move posts at once, and can be taken back while the transfer is still open. The transfer becomes In Progress once moving starts.
  4. Choose Complete when every line is done. The Complete Stock Transfer dialog lists under Missing Information any line whose moved quantity is not right yet; once it is clear, the transfer becomes Completed.

Moving stock between storage units in one plant writes no journal entry, because the value never left the plant.

How to change a transfer when it was completed by mistake

Reopen a completed transfer to work on it again. Reopening a completed transfer needs the inventory delete permission, because it unlocks moves that already posted.
