Routes
The dispatch board, showing each day's route plans on a map, every truck's ordered stops, and the delivery work still waiting for a truck.
The Routes page is the dispatch board. For a day or a week, it shows the route plan your company is running: which truck and driver visit which stops in which order, drawn on a map with the tanks, tank monitors and company locations around them. It also lists the delivery work that still needs a truck, so a dispatcher can assign it or move it to another day.
Open it from Routes in the sidebar, or press g then b from anywhere in AimRack.
How to choose the day when you plan dispatch
The date control in the header sets the period the board shows:
- Choose Day or Week, and pick a date from the calendar.
- Press
[for the previous day and]for the next one. - The page address carries the date, for example
/routes?date=2026-09-25, so you can send a colleague the exact day you are looking at.
When the address names a date that is not valid, the board shows the latest day that has route plans and says "Invalid date … — showing the latest day." When your company has no route plans yet, the page says "Your first dispatch starts here" and offers Plan tomorrow, which asks AimRack's assistant which tanks need a delivery and which trucks should take them.
What the dispatch board shows
The board has three ways of looking at the same period:
| View | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Map | Routes and locations: trucks, stops, route lines, tanks, tank monitors and your company's branch locations. |
| Records | Stops, vehicles, monitors and tanks as lists. |
| Driver timeline | Delivery stops by driver and time, when the plan carries times. |
Above the view:
- Route narrows the board to one route, named by its driver, or by the truck's plate when no driver is named. All routes shows them all.
- Work queue narrows the lists to All work, Needs attention or Unassigned stops.
- The search box finds a stop, a driver or a monitor.
- A count shows how many stops, monitors, tanks and vehicles the current filters include.
Select anything on the map or in a list to see its details beside the map. A stop shows its customer, status, arrival window, planned gallons and, once driven, delivered gallons. A truck shows its driver, its next stop and its last known location, which moves as trucks report their positions. Press f, or use the map's fit button, to bring the whole day back into view. Make the map yours changes how markers look, and the layer switches show or hide trucks, stops, monitors, tanks and route lines.
How to move a stop to another truck or day when the plan changes
- Select the stop, on the map or in Unassigned stops.
- Choose Reschedule or reassign.
- To give it to another truck on the same day, choose the route. You can also set the gallons the stop should plan for.
- To move it to another day, choose a date. The list offers the next two weeks and every day already in the period.
- Review the change. AimRack shows what will change before it saves ("Review before changing the day."), then confirms it with "Change confirmed".
Only one change saves at a time. While one is saving, the actions wait with the message "A dispatch change is being saved. Please wait before making another change." Moving stops needs permission to update routes.
How to request a delivery when a tank monitor shows a low tank
- Select the monitor, in the Monitors list or on the map.
- Choose Request delivery.
- Pick the service date, and optionally the gallons wanted and a note for the driver.
- Submit the request. It joins the open work for that date, where it can be assigned to a truck.
Requesting a delivery needs permission to create routes.
How to clear an alert when you have dealt with it
Stops, tanks and monitors can carry alerts, such as a closed road on a route, no qualified driver for a truck, a tank that ran out of gas, or a monitor whose reading is stale or unreliable. Open the item, read the alert, and choose Mark resolved under it once it is handled. When nothing is left, the item says "All notifications resolved", and earlier alerts stay listed as resolved. Resolving an alert needs permission to update routes.
How route plans change when a new plan is approved
A route plan is never edited in place. When a new plan for a day is approved, AimRack keeps the old plan as history and makes the new one the day's plan of record. The board always shows the plan of record. The assistant can propose route plans for a day in the chat, but this board does not show its proposals or offer an approval control.
How to see the planning day at a glance when you want totals
The Routes dashboard, at the address /routes-rg, shows the latest day that has route plans:
- Plans on the date, Stops planned and Drive time.
- Plans: each plan's territory and the planner that made it.
- Planning days: the days that carry route plans.
A tile's label opens the dispatch board, and See why on a tile asks the assistant about that number. Drag a tile to move it or resize it; your arrangement is remembered in this browser.
Where this fits
- The tanks on a route, their levels and their days of gas are on Tanks.
- Once a truck drops propane at a stop, the delivery becomes a ticket on Deliveries, and the ticket names the route that carried it.
- The customer behind each stop is on Accounts.
- Trucks are vehicles set up by your company, and drivers are people on your team; see People.
- Home's summary shows the latest route day's routes, stops and planned gallons; see Home.
